The Kintyre Media Story
Galen Trinkle
Kintyre Media is all about happy endings, and new beginnings. The company’s name, Kintyre, is Scottish for Land’s end, but to the folks behind the company, the name celebrates beginnings as well.
Owner and principal lighting cameraman Galen Trinkle has spent over a quarter of a century behind a camera, achieving the kind of success and respect that only those at the very top of their craft ever attain.
His career has kept him in the middle of world events, capturing them on film and video with an uncanny eye.
If you watch TV, you’ve seen his work. He has shot for all the major networks, and most of the important cable networks.
Network news, magazine shows like 20/20 and Dateline, Barbara Walters’ interviews, documentary, sports, entertainment, his credits read like pages from TV Guide. It’s safe to say that any way a camera can be used for television, Galen’s probably done it.
As it was for many of us the events of 9/11 and their aftermath proved a profound turning point for Galen. Grueling days of round the clock coverage from the World Trade Center took their toll and Galen decided he’d had enough.
With nothing left to prove, and weary of travel and tragedy, he decided to make New Hampshire his Land’s End…and to turn his camera towards those things that celebrate the best moments in life.
Galen still shoots with his national clients, but he now also enjoys working with local businesses developing programs for the local public access station, and totally enjoys teaching every summer a two week digital film class for high school students.
And so Kintyre Media was born…
